Hi, I’m Luke “The Imperial Goat” Sumpter and thank you for stopping by our page.
Imperial Goat BBQ started after years of BBQ love and research.  Through my travels as a competitive bearder I was able to try BBQ in many different states and regions.  After a few years of developing my own recipes and seasonings, I was encouraged by friends and family to share my rubs and sauces with others.  Two years ago, everything lined up and Imperial Goat BBQ was born.  We started by selling our rubs at beard competitions and craft shows.  Eventually we moved to Etsy as most small companies do and now we are here with our own website!

My wife, Lindsay, and I hand-make all of the rubs and love to see how people use them in their cooking.  When we aren’t cooking or working, we enjoy traveling, scuba diving, craft beer and trying new restaurants.

Who we are:

Luke “ The Imperial Goat” Sumpter is a BBQ Pitmaster, Mental Health professional and a World Champion Bearder. He enjoys cooking, scuba diving, video games and a good cigar.    

Lindsay Sumpter works as an environmental professional in the oil and gas industry.   She is a master Scuba Diver and enjoys all things outdoors.

Sumi, our beloved English Bulldog, is the name sake of our signature rub. Although she is no longer with us, she will always be remembered through the delicious flavor she can bring to people’s meals.
